$META Meta has reportedly built a humanoid robot prototype with Chinese robotics company Fourier and is developing a second version as it accelerates efforts to create AI-powered household robots, The Information reports. * Prototype: The roughly 106-pound (48kg) humanoid, named Max, was developed with Fourier in just three months. A second-generation model is already underway. * Robotics Strategy: Meta aims to develop AI software capable of controlling humanoids, potentially licensing the technology to other manufacturers rather than relying solely on its own robot sales. * AI Training: Meta plans to use motion and visual data collected through specialized smart glasses worn by researchers, targeting approximately 270,000 hours of first-person training footage. * Expansion: Meta's robotics division, led by former Cruise CEO Marc Whitten, has also acquired Assured Robotics Intelligence to strengthen AI models for robot control and autonomous learning.
