more on BWXT BWX Technologies’ BANR microreactor was selected for an Indigenous-led transportable nuclear power project in Belledune, New Brunswick, targeting operation in the early 2030s.
* Project: Prodigy Clean Energy, Pabineau First Nation and Eel River Bar First Nation plan an up-to-50 MWe transportable plant using two BANR units, with New Brunswick signing a letter of intent to buy the power.
* Reactor: Each BANR is designed for 75 MW thermal, or 22 MWe, using HALEU TRISO fuel, passive cooling and flexible power conversion.
* Deployment: The system is intended to be factory-built, shipped fully assembled and installed in about 18 months; BWXT and Prodigy are working toward a definitive agreement covering engineering, licensing, financing, supply chain and deployment.
