At 8:30 AM ET, nonfarm payrolls are expected to rise about 90,000, down from August's 162,000, with unemployment holding at 4.1% and wage growth around 3.2% YoY; factory orders follow at 10:00 AM, with Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan also speaking today. Premarket, Nike is plunging roughly 10% after disappointing revenue and guidance, while ON Semiconductor is up about 6% and Synaptics is surging roughly 14% after the companies announced a revised $5.7 billion acquisition agreement. Today's jobs report is the dominant catalyst: a softer print could further reduce October Fed-hike expectations and support stocks, while an unexpectedly strong report could send Treasury yields back toward their recent highs and renew pressure on equities.
