$LAES – SEALSQ Launches Commercial Phase of Miraex Quantum Photonics Technology Following Strategic Acquisition
SEALSQ Corp. (NASDAQ: LAES) is advancing its quantum technology strategy by moving the photonics technology of Miraex SA into the commercial phase following its strategic acquisition of the Swiss quantum technology company.
SEALSQ acquired 100% of Miraex in June 2026 through its $200 million Quantum Fund, strengthening the company’s goal of building an integrated quantum technology platform spanning post-quantum security, quantum computing, photonics, communications and space infrastructure.
🔹 What is Miraex?
Miraex is a Swiss photonics technology company based at EPFL Innovation Park that develops quantum interconnect solutions. Its technology is designed to connect quantum processors with optical communication networks.
A key component of Miraex’s technology is its Thin Film Lithium Tantalate (TFLT) Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) platform. The technology can help convert quantum information between microwave frequencies used by certain quantum processors and optical frequencies used for quantum communications.
🔹 Why the Commercial Launch Matters
The move toward commercialization is important because SEALSQ is attempting to transition its Miraex investment from a research-focused technology asset into a potential commercial business opportunity.
The technology could support several emerging applications, including:
Quantum communications
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)
Quantum networking
Distributed quantum computing
Quantum sensing
Satellite-based quantum communications
Secure space infrastructure
Miraex’s photonic technology is also being positioned as an important component of SEALSQ’s Quantum Orbital Space Cloud (QOSC) strategy, which aims to develop quantum-secure infrastructure connecting space-based and terrestrial systems.
🔹 Strengthening SEALSQ’s “Root-to-Qubit” Strategy
The acquisition expands SEALSQ beyond its traditional focus on semiconductors, PKI and post-quantum cybersecurity.
The company is building what it describes as a “Root-to-Qubit” quantum technology stack, connecting security technologies at the semiconductor level with quantum computing, photonics, quantum communications and space-based infrastructure.
